ToggleInitiative to Reduce Gender disparity in STEM Field in Nepal
Funding Agency – Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany
Dr. Babita Paudel receive the Humboldt Alumni Award in 2022 for Capacity Building of Female Academics and Researchers of STEM Field through Networking to Reduce the Gender Gap in Nepal.
According to UNESCO, only 7.8% of women work in STEM fields in Nepal. This gender gap is attributed to various factors, including a lack of female-friendly national policies, gender stereotypes, social norms, fewer female role models in STEM, and a lack of networking and capacity-building activities.
The primary goal of this project is to support the capacity building of female researchers and academia through networking-based programs. Additionally, the initiative aims to create a database of women researchers working in STEM fields in Nepal.
The ultimate vision and mission of this project are to empower, inspire, and motivate more girls and women to pursue careers in Science and Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in Nepal.
