On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023, a training program for female researchers was held on March 3 at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu in collaboration with the Research Center for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST). Thirty participants attended the event. Ms. Sijal Pokhrel, a representative of UNESCO Nepal, delivered a presentation on the importance of women’s participation in STEM. The program also included capacity-building activities such as identifying suitable journals, career counseling for national and international opportunities, research proposal writing, and networking for collaboration.

Bhaktapur Multiple Campus, Bhaktapur

A capacity-building training for female students and researchers in STEM was held on January 3, 2024, in Bhaktapur Multiple Campus, Bhaktapur in collaboration with Bhaktapur Multiple Campus. The program engaged 53 participants and included sessions on career counseling, national and international opportunities, research proposal writing, networking, collaboration, and CV preparation.

Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, Kathmandu

On February 2, 2024, a program was organized at Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, Kathmandu in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, in collaboration with Padma Kanya Campus. A total of 79 female researchers and students participated. The program featured activities such as career counseling, guidance on national and international opportunities, research proposal writing, networking, CV preparation, and tips on communicating with professors and writing for journals.

Pulchowk Engineering College, Lalitpur

The Center for Natural and Applied Sciences and Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences, in collaboration with the Nepal German Academic Association (NEGAAS) Women in STEM Club and Pulchowk Engineering Campus, celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS-2024) on February 10, 2024, at Pulchowk Engineering College, Lalitpur, Bagmati Province.

The event brought together 59 participants for activities such as networking, career counseling, and leadership development. It also featured inspiring storytelling sessions by women leaders in STEM and a panel discussion with experts from academia, the Planning Commission of Nepal, and government and private sectors. The discussion focused on reducing gender disparity in STEM and increasing women’s representation in leadership roles.

Prof. Timila Yami Thapa and Dr. Kabitel Luitel shared their inspiring journeys to STEM leadership, motivating the participants. The panel also addressed strategies for enhancing female leadership in STEM, with valuable insights from Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Singh, Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Er. Sneera Regmi, and Ms. Neelam Pandey on inclusion.
